4. Technical Troubleshooting Your Scholarly Experience

Multiple factors can affect how Scholarly loads on your device; most are local to your browser or network, not the platform itself. Starting fresh often resolves these quickly.


Issue: Old or Broken Pages Loading

Cause: Your browser cached an outdated version of the site.

Fix: Open an Incognito/Private window:

Then navigate to Scholarly. This bypasses all cached data.


Issue: Site Won't Load or Behaves Strangely on Wi-Fi

Cause: Your network (Wi-Fi, office, school) may have restrictions or temporary routing issues.

Fix: Disconnect from Wi-Fi and try loading Scholarly using your phone's mobile data. If it works on mobile data but not Wi-Fi, the issue is network-relatedโ€”contact your IT team or ISP.


Issue: Incognito Didn't Help, Still Seeing Old Content

Cause: Cache exists at the CDN (content delivery network) level, served based on your geographic region.

Fix: Use a VPN to connect from a different region, then load Scholarly. Free options like Proton VPN work for this. Disconnect VPN once the updated content loads.


Issue: Specific Features Not Working

Cause: Browser extensions (ad blockers, privacy tools) may interfere.

Fix: Try Incognito mode (extensions are disabled by default) or temporarily disable extensions manually.
